They seem to be everywhere, and they catch her off-guard. She finds herself almost scuttling to the bed, like someone who's afraid of her own reflection

Jared suddenly wishes he was like every other stereotypical Texan who kept 15 shotguns in the bedroom. Or at least a baseball bat. He swallows hard and asks, "Hello?"

He has five seconds of silence to think that maybe he should take his mom up on her offer to call the head doctor. Then something says, "You going to eat both those dogs, or could I have one?" It comes from right underneath Jared.

That's when Jared throws his sheets over his head and doesn't move an inch all night.

It's an honest-to-god crossover with Monsters Inc. How cool is that? Funny and sweet and ridiculous:)

And whenever they see him coming they get this panicked look in their eyes like they want to run away and they don’t even know why. Jensen knows why. It’s the same thing that makes his dad worry and his mom cry. That makes Nana tell his parents he’s going to Hell, not even caring that he can hear her. It’s what makes him ‘weird’.

He presses down on a white key. A note vibrates from within the piano’s belly. It’s dark green and slightly crooked. He tries another one. That one is deep blue and smells like the ocean. He feels bolder and stretches out all his fingers, bending them slightly at the fingertips and then lets them fall. A jungle of sounds jumps up towards him and he can’t help laughing. They kinda tickle, like running his fingers through high grass. He lifts his hand and then reaches over to his far left and slides his finger all the way over to his far right. The notes run like mice up a ladder, their tiny claws tickling their way up his spine.


My eyes are pretty much falling out of my head at this point, this is disgustingly long and I've been unable to stop reading it since I started some time this morning. I had to get to that happy ending that I just *knew* had to be coming. The author has written something magical and scary and big. And when I say magical, I mean it literally. Jensen isn't your average little boy in this and it takes Jared a while to understand that. This sucked me in so badly and some of that was because of the little music clips scattered through the story, definitely play them while you read. Even if it's only a few seconds to get a feel of the emotion of it all.

Father sweats and thunders, his eyes glowing with fervor as he reminds every man that the innocent often pay for grown men's sins. Nick stares at his father with wide eyes. Joe counts the cracks in the floorboards and imagines the words seeping into his brother’s soul like poison.

I'm reccing it forward with this one:) I found it originally via onelittlesleep and I fell in love with the concept and the writer's style. It's a road trip, old school, the boys travelling across the country as pioneers. These two are such adorable little men and there's something about them in this story (and, ok, most jobros stories) that makes me think they have beautiful, shiny little souls.

Ray tilted his head and then pulled Fraser back down to the bed. They lay there, shoulder to shoulder, and Ray said, "So, what's your purpose? Because mine was, pretty much, to have sex."

Learning to communicate with Ray in a whole new way is hard for Fraser and I can understand that. It's great to see him like this, to see that even though it takes a little prodding from Ray he gets what he wants in the end.

Castiel had chosen him over Heaven, and Sam had figured out that Hell had nothing on offer that was worth the price. They’d all crawled over broken bones and glass to get here; they’d all taken sacrifices, willing and not, which maybe meant that there wasn’t as much difference between humans and angels and demons as everyone liked to pretend.

Dean needs and is needed in return, he's the glue holding them together.

I do like a good re-telling of a fairy tale, although in this case I'm still looking for a story where the Beast stays a beast. It always breaks my heart when he changes back into a man. But this was lovely and shows a mostly bewildered Beauty trying to take control of her life in the castle.

He thinks it odd, the first time her hands linger on his. He is offering a teacup to her, and the genuine warmth in her eyes makes him start; he stares back at her as her fingers take the china and brings it quietly to her lips, smiling at him over the rim as she drinks. He wonders why she didn't even notice it: the touch, the brush of skin on skin. Perhaps it was only casual to her. And then the moment passes, and he thinks, angrily, of course it was casual, and dismisses it; and he ignores the voice that says, well, why did you notice it then?

This has a Tumnus who is aware that what he's beginning to feel for young Lucy is wrong. The story is written in such a way that although we know that Lucy is 12-13, we still feel for Tumnus, he's still the faun he was in the movie/novel/series. I just liked where the author was coming from, why she wrote it (her author's notes) and how it made me feel.

He didn't volunteer any additional information after that.


The evolution of Rodney McKay, a believable, organic trip from polite young man to who he is today. And you can feel that explosion of emotion and release in general_jinjur's voice when she reads that part, it's fantastic.

Even if it had been Becky's ribbon, there wasn't necessarily anything in it. Wilson was so stupidly sentimental about things. His office was full of tasteless knick-knacks that had been gifts from patients or parents or whomever. It was inevitable.


This is...different. Just don't take it too seriously, yes?

He remembers praying for David. He remembers wanting David not to be dead more than he’s ever wanted anything in his life, more than the first boy he kissed, or the last, more, even, than his father’s approval.

My disappointment on starting to watch Kings and then not immediately seeing these two as BFF was epic. Because pretty much all I know about them from the Bible is that their love was epic (whatever kind of love you want to believe that was). But all that disappointment just made me go out hunting for awesome Jack/David fic and here is one of them:)

“You shouldn’t have come,” the figure before him says, and although his face is no clearer than before, the voice is beloved and familiar. “You can’t save me.”

Sammy, the mute wants to say, but instead he hears himself respond, “I’m your big brother, dude. I’m always going to save you.”

Sammy throws his head back and laughs and the sound is all wrong: cruel and verging on hysterical. “And how’re you gonna do that, huh? You gonna turn back the clock? You gonna spill all of my polluted, filthy blood on the ground?”

“Sammy,” the mute says now, and the name sounds as perfect aloud as he always thought it would. His trembling, choked voice doesn’t do it justice.


This story was so strange and interesting, it kept me riveted the whole time.

It’s a year of firsts, hunting alone and falling in love, but when a monster from the tragic past starts wreaking havoc on the people of the town, Dean must come to terms with his own fears and desires in order to save the people he cares about the most.

“So, play.”

The look the man gives him riles Dean. He’s seen it from so many people – doubt, disbelief, condemnation - that he’s almost got used to it. He knows he’s not the sort of kid other parents encourage their sons and daughters to make friends with. He’s the son of a drifter, and he looks the part with the leather jacket and the spiked up hair. It’s cool. He’s cool with it as long as it doesn’t make them think that about Sam. But this guy… Dean has a sneaking admiration for him, with his WW2 era pistol and his intense eyes. It’s a shame for him to be so easily taken in.

It’s that, maybe, which convinces him.


Prepare to fall in love with Dean even more than you already are, gretazreta made me feel every bit of the restrained passion and longing that Dean felt. She made Dean stand alone as a character without actually lessening the importance and presence of his family. I just love that Dean could create these touching bonds and relationships with people who weren't a part of his immediate family.

“At?” Merlin asked, tugging at the strings of Arthur’s shirt. He liked to play with Arthur’s body when they had the time, lay Arthur out and just do as he liked, slow and careful, like he’d been thinking about it all day, making a low whining noise when Arthur tried to interrupt him.

And it was very, very hard to be displeased with someone who would actually get irritated when they weren’t allowed to make one arch in pleasure like so many bridges. When their eyes lit up like one could read by them and praised one just for mewling.

“Just…rubbish.” Arthur grumbled. “At everything. Ever. Rubbish.”

It's wonderful seeing Arthur trying to give Merlin a life of his own at court, trying to be his friend and make him happy.

But when he signs up for an experimental obesity research program, he meets Jared Padalecki, a stunningly sexy fitness guru who slowly but surely changes Jensen’s life.

Jensen feels even sillier than before. How can any of them think they have a snowflake’s chance in hell with these trainers? They’re all unattractive, fat cows, and the trainers are like über-beings. Jensen is embarrassed on behalf of his fellow cattle, and embarrassed for himself at his momentary freak out. At least he’s not being as obvious as the rest of them. Nobody here knows that he’s gay, so there’s nothing suspicious about him choosing Der—Jared.

This one wont be for everyone, weight issues can be triggery for people for a variety of reasons. Personally I think that the author did a great job of avoiding the potential pitfalls a story like this could have fallen into. It focuses a lot on the self esteem problems Jensen has and I'm not overweight but I can definitely relate. I think most of us can because self esteem isn't about reality it's about who we *think* we are or what we *think* we look like or what we think we are or aren't capable of.

But I did love this story, I loved the relationship, I loved how Jensen changed. I mean, just look at the language he uses in the quote I pulled. Referring to himself and the other overweight people as 'cattle'...oh geez, I just had to stop myself from going off onto a side rant about how the most important step in changing behaviours is changing thinking.

Things are going pretty well until he accidentally signs Dean up as his Beloved Consort, a role that requires sex with the Antichrist on an altar. And that's when things stop going pretty well. Also, the soundtrack to the Apocalypse sucks.

"Guess this means you already told them," he says to Ruby.

She shrugs at him with an unrepentant smile. "Sorry, I just couldn't wait to share. You should'a seen their faces."

Sam nods again, then realizes that if he carries on waiting for them to get over it, there might not be any world left to save. "Okay, yeah," he says. "Incest is funny, can we move on? Seriously, guys, it's just a minor complication. I'm working on it."

It blows my mind that not only can fleshflutter write some of the creepiest, scariest shit out there but apparently she kicks ass at crack too. This is her Big Bang and it's so crazy it's AWESOME. Sam, Dean, the angels and demons are all one big uncomfortable gang, full of the best and worst intentions, it's cracktacular:)

This is a fic trailer for a story by the same name, A Thousand Miles (Mend What Is Broken). In the story Tony accepted the offer of a leading a team of his own in Spain and the vid shows what Gibbs goes through after he leaves. And it does that really well, it has a strong narrative and definitely had an emotional impact on me.

And I think this is the second vid now that I've recommended that uses this song (Slipped Away by Avril Lavigne).

But the worry only lasts for an hour, tops, because c’mon, it’s Matt, excitable geek in an ill-fitting black t-shirt, and if John were really honest with himself (which he might be) it’s kinda nice to have that sort of attention on him.

This is fucking hilarious. The *sex* is fucking hilarious. PLEASE. Read it:)

Dean was crashed out on his stomach, the way they were told back then, his tiny mittened fist clenched up like he was resisting all the sleeping he was doing. He didn't twitch when John carefully knelt down by the crib, though John was ready to move quick and soothe him before Mary tried to get out of bed, just huffed out those small precious milk-sweet breaths.

It breaks my heart to see John like this, to see all the love and hope he has for his son and to know how they both end up. It makes me ache for John and miss him and it makes me angry at him all at the same time.
