In the aftermath of war, he returns to a Hogwarts that is fractured and divided, but this is no break that can be fixed with a spell. New owls, fading scars, surprising alliances-- and along the way, the hardest task of all, to live with it.

He had to knock multiple times. At last, Malfoy's voice came from behind the door. 'Is that you, Potter? What are you doing here? Shouldn't you be snogging some little Gryffindor up in your tower, or have they all fainted in awe of your daring victory?'

'I don't want much to do with girls right now,' Harry scowled.

Behind the door, Malfoy sniggered.

'Oh, shut up and let me in,' Harry said. 'Come on, it's not as if anybody else is around.'

pennyplainknits tricked me, pure and simple. I'd sworn a blood oath to never read/watch/listen to anything Harry Potter related and I'd kept that oath for almost ten years. She sneakily asked me to beta a podfic without telling me what fandom it was in, and I, in complete innocence agreed and then wept bitter tears when I found out what it was.

And to my horror and surprise I found myself getting drawn in, I found myself fascinated by the prickly Malfoy with his lazy drawl. Fascinated by this group of young adults that were clearly fucked up after going through some kind of epic battle (I haven't read the books yo!). The writing drew me in, there are so many things happening and everything seems to develop very organically. The verbal fights between Harry and Draco are fabulous because the author can obviously see both sides of the equation, they both believe passionately in what they're saying.

And then there's the reader, who cries when they cry and laughs when they laugh and gets angry when they get angry, who gets grudgingly turned on when they get grudgingly turned on:) She's not just emoting, she's *feeling* it and it makes such an amazing difference.

This entry was originally posted at http://dodificus.dreamwidth.org/271927.html. This time, not so much.

It was here that I became aware of the stickiness of my position. If I admitted to seeing a ghost this morning, he'd wonder, naturally, why I hadn't told him before, after it had caused me to behave so strangely. Then there was that other bit, where brainier coves than I had clearly decided that there was no such thing as ghosts, meaning that Jeeves would no doubt misconstrue my confession as the ravings of a mad man. However, and here was where it got sticky, if I did not tell, and he found out later - and Jeeves generally does find out about these things - he would not like that I had not told him when he'd asked.

A ghost story in the Wodehousian style, with a Jeeves I found quite amusing. While still maintaining the cool that he's famous for he still somehow manages to be at turns sarcastic, smug and not a little funny.

This entry was originally posted at http://dodificus.dreamwidth.org/271630.html. His eyes dropped to Nick’s mouth. “If you would just…”

Joe’s hand curled around the back of Nick’s head, dragging Nick forward as he leaned in and pressed their mouths together. Empire of Ivory

Laurence rises from the table carefully. Tharkay finds himself opening his mouth to speak, although even with his face warm from liquor, it's difficult to make the words pass his lips. Laurence has offered him far more respect than he is accustomed to, that much is true, and not solely as a result of his steady manners, but even his regard is surely not unconditional; if Tharkay pushes this further, it might be lost entirely. A loss of respect shouldn't be so much to handle for someone not accustomed to gaining much in the first place, but Tharkay finds himself dreading the possibility more than he likes to admit.

I love Laurence and how much devotion and respect he commands in most everyone who knows him. He is so much himself in this, such a gentleman and every bit deserving of the regard Tharkay hold him in.

This entry was originally posted at http://dodificus.dreamwidth.org/271309.html. Starts after The Curious Case of Dean Winchester.

Sam wanted to grab him, bear him down to the bed and clutch him like a child’s teddy bear. Dean would never allow it, though, and these days Sam had to worry about what might happen if they touched like that, Lucifer’s words still humming in the back of his mind like the need for demon blood used to, a constant temptation. Sam had to settle for kicking off his boots and shedding his jacket, then edging onto the side of the bed, face turned away from his brother, listening to Dean’s breath finally slow and even out. It was enough to remind him that there was still a scrap of hope in the world.

I kind of like how manipulative Lucifer can be without having to tell one single lie. I also like how much Sam lets that one truth shape his thoughts and actions

This entry was originally posted at http://dodificus.dreamwidth.org/270364.html. There were papers shoved to either side - Shire maps, botanical illustrations, journal entries - and a single sheet in the centre, three quarters filled with Frodo's distinctive script. It looked like a letter to the master at Brandy Hall, with whom Frodo had been sharing a long-running and increasingly blustery correspondence regarding the cultivation of brassicas. Sam wasn't certain how much Frodo actually knew about turnips and cabbages outside of booklearning, but he was tickled to spot his name at least four times. 'My Sam says-'

This is basically a short version of one of my most favourite movies but with bonus hobbits:)

This entry was originally posted at http://dodificus.dreamwidth.org/269201.html.
So, I think I'm about done with LJ, today's news is just about too much for me. I've considered dreamwidth my home for quite awhile now, but now I'm going to be disabling comments on all my public LJ posts and hoping that if people have something to say they'll be willing to take the time and comment on DW.

I've always resisted doing that in the past because I haven't liked the idea of dictating to people how/where they should communicate with me. But the whole thing is just making me feel a bit dirty and I'd rather get some distance from LJ right now.

Thanks guys.

This entry was originally posted at http://dodificus.dreamwidth.org/268987.html. Because it's seriously hard to "no homo" when your girlfriend who looks like she might break if you push her too hard is fucking your ass. There's just no way to come back from that, man).

Full of one liners and great zingers. Puck really is an asshole but considering he's dating Rachel that's probably a good thing. A hand paws at Dean’s face—at his cheek—and he’s back in the warehouse again, hanging from his hands with a needle in his neck. It's not exactly a new idea that Adama and Kara have somewhat of a father/daughter relationship but it really is expressed brilliantly here.

And hey, Kara Thrace is the ONLY character that has their own tag in this journal, that should say just how much I love her:)

I gave the attached thumb a disapproving look and then raised my eyes to Jeeves once more. "I've been considering a brothel, Jeeves."

There is a certain look that Jeeves adopts when seriously stricken. I have seen it when Jeeves is presented with fruity hats, ties, or spats that he deems unsuitable. And I saw it now as Jeeves stared back with said soupy expression.

"I could not advise it, sir," he said.

What is Jeeves to do but stalwartly offer himself up to the problem at hand? Many a time I've been chatting with an employer about their life issues only to end up bringing them off on the chesterfield. Maybe that's why I've gone through so many jobs?

Quite filthy and a little romantic as well:)

Instants when he's where (when) he should be. He clings to them, digs in his metaphorical heels, even though he knows by now it won't last. He's lonely as hell for these fleeting minutes. Something as simple as taking a shower or eating a meal in the apartment that he should be living in. Or more actively: mid-differential, shutting down House's insanities; three o'clock in the morning in the labs with Chase and Cameron, running gels (it's about two years too early in his personal timeline, but at this point, he'd take anywhen plus or minus five years).

Time travel fic. In House. I know, right? Totally crazy. But somehow it *really* works, probably in part because zulu has a really strong Foreman voice. And the last line is filled with so many possibilities.
